The best way to get bikes to Ishinomaki 自転車支援の最良策

一日中自転車支援について考えてる。

石巻へ一緒に行ったスタッフと打ち合わせをし、意見交換。

現地ボランティア先生と連絡をとり、今日（日曜日）も彼女は石巻で自転車支援の活動をしている。

我孫子市から石巻市へ自転車３００台が行くことが決定。

それがそのまま市民一人一人に渡る訳ではないのが現状。

一度に何百の自転車を正確に、しかも早く運搬できるのは、やっぱり市から市。

どんなにボランティアががんばっても、それには敵わないと思う。

だから石巻市が市民にドンドン渡して行くのが、やっぱり最良策だよね。

たとえそれが貸出しという名目であろうと、今すぐ必要としている人に自転車が渡るのであれば、それでもいいじゃん？

日本のお役所のやり方を変えるように働きかけるのは不可能かもしれないけど、

こんな緊急事態だから。

ドンドン自転車を石巻に送って、どんどん配ってもらおうよ。

分配ボランティアスタッフなんて、きっと直ぐに見つかるんだから。

わたしももちろん分配に行きます。

I've been thinking about bicycles all day. Lat night, I brainstormed with the Abiko volunteers I went up to Ishinomaki with last week. I also contacted a volunteer who lives one hour from Ishinomaki. She's a teacher but even today on Sunday she drove in and was dealing with the bicycle issue with city hall and politicians.

Three hundred bicycles are coming from Abiko to Ishinomaki. That's deifinite.

But that doesn't mean those bicycles will go to individuals. That's the current situation. Being able to transfer bicycles quickly and accurately really has to be done by city government. Even if volunteers try hard, we can't beat what they can do. So the best way is that Ishinomaki City provides bicycles to each and every person who needs a bicycle, one after another. Even though city hall is only "renting out" the bicycles, still it is OK because at least desperate people can receive a bike right now.

Under normal circumstances, it would be impossible to ask a Japanese public official to change their official procedures. But these are not normal circumstances. The city should release bicycles to individuals right now.

I'm sure we can find volunteers to help provide bicycles quickly. I will be one of them too.
